I just formatted my Vista install and installed Windows 7.Microsoft being Microsoft it assumed it was the only OS on my disk and replaced grub.To fix:
- Download supergrub cd from http://www.supergrubdisk.org/index.php?pid=5
- Follow instructions to either autofix grub (mine failed) or boot directly into Ubuntu
- If autofix worked skip to step 5.
- Once in ubuntu I used the command sudo grub-install /dev/sda (sda is my hard drive)
- I then rebooted. Because I had Vista before the menu still pointed to that (which doesnt work). If you have the same problem continue to step 6.
- Boot back into Ubuntu and do sudo grub-update
All done!
